Version 4.10 of Statz incorporates these changes:
************
STATUSLINE COLOR CHANGE CODES THAT ALLOW YOU TO AUTOMAGICALLY CHANGE
STATUSLINE COLORS BASED ON EITHER OR BOTH USER'S BBS MESSAGE BASE LEVEL
AND/OR LEVELS BASED ON CONFIGURATION LEVELING.
This is GREAT if you want to easily and quickly see what level a user is
on your board at a glance! You can make NEW USERS turn the statusline
red and validated user turn it green and visiting sysops can turn it white,
but the BEST PART is that YOU CONTROL it all - the colors, the levels,
EVERYTHING with STATZ codes! Statusline color = userlevel --- makes sense
to me!
*************
LOGOFF QUOTES SWITCHING CAN BE DONE BASED ON USER'S BBS MESSAGE BASE LEVEL
AND/OR CONFIGURATION LEVEL. Allow validated people to leave quotes!
Switch 'em off for the new people and potential QUOTES evil-dooers!
Sure- other doors do this, but with this kind of control?
*************
HANGUP ON PEOPLE! How many times have you wanted to HANG UP on a certain
leveled user after you MADE THEM READ a message - allowing them no time
to respond, leave junk messages or mail, or generally create havoc?
Or how about letting 300 bps people on the BBS to read a message explaining
that 300 bps people are only allowed on between 3 and 3:15 am and then
logging them out of the board rather than just not allowing them in?
Now YOU can control when the phone hits the dead zone!
Other Changes:::::
The \FI, \FJ, \FK, \FL, & \FM codes now REQUIRE a number from 0 through 9
to define errorlevel. These are the KILL STATZ for a certain baudrate codes.
Statz initializes faster for both registered and non-registered modes, thus
taking less time to get into it's output cycle.
Statz now incorporates the following additional Sysop HOT KEYS :
ALT-X = Exits STATZ and then shuts down SLBBS
ALT-Z = Exits STATZ
ALT-H = Hang Up on remote caller
ALT-A = Sysop Chat Availability flag toggle
ALT-N = Sysop Next flag toggle
ALT-S = SuperUser flag toggle
F9 = Increase online caller's time 5 minutes
F10 = Decrease online caller's time 5 minutes
The new Sysop hot keys are available to registered Statz users only.
The registered mode of Statz now includes the following new codes :
\BS = Hangup Phone
\BW = Set INVERSE text color for statusline
\BX = Set INVERSE background color for statusline
\BY = Set INVERSE text color based on BBS MESSAGE BASE LEVEL
\BZ = Set INVERSE background color based on BBS MESSAGE BASE LEVEL
\AA = Set INVERSE text color based on CONFIG.SL2 level
\AB = Set INVERSE background color based on CONFIG.SL2 level
\AC = Hangup Phone based on CONFIG.SL2 defined levels (A through Y)
\AD = Hangup Phone on 300 baud callers
\AE = Hangup Phone on 1200 baud callers
\AF = Hangup Phone on 2400 baud callers
\AG = Hangup Phone on 9600 baud callers
\AH = Hangup Phone based on BBS level (0 through 255 + or -)
\AI = Turn on flow control based on CONFIG.SL2 level
\AJ = Turn off flow control based on CONFIG.SL2 level
\AK = Turn on flow control for 300 bps callers
\AL = Turn off flow control for 300 bps callers
\AM = Turn on flow control for 1200 bps callers
\AN = Turn off flow control for 1200 bps callers
\AO = Turn on flow control for 2400 bps callers
\AP = Turn off flow control for 2400 bps callers
\AQ = Turn on flow control for 9600 bps callers
\AR = Turn off flow control for 9600 bps callers
\AS = Make Statz abortable to BBS based on CONFIG.SL2 levels
\AT = Make Statz not abortable to BBS based on CONFIG.SL2 levels
\AU = Turn logoff QUOTES gathering ON based on CONFIG.SL2 levels
\AV = Turn logoff QUOTES gathering OFF based on CONFIG.SL2 levels
\AW = Turn logoff QUOTES gathering ON
\AX = Turn logoff QUOTES gathering OFF
\AY = Turn logoff QUOTES gathering ON based on BBS level + -
\AZ = Turn logoff QUOTES gathering OFF based on BBS level + -
Statz registration is $20.00. If you run a SUPPORT BBS for Searchlight
Software then you may purchase Statz for 1/2 price at any time.
On June 1st, 1992 the price of Statz will increase to $30 ($15 for support
board operators).
If you're a SLBBS door programmer who's door software stores userdata on disk
and you're interested in having STATZ allow output from your file then please
contact me. I think it would be interesting to see user's addresses, time
bank account status, color settings, birthdays, etc. output through Statz.
In this way, we might benefit from tighter door integration in the SL
community as well as concise statistical information being available via
a flexible and powerful environment available on either a registered or
un-registered level to all SL sysops -
Most Asked Questions about Statz :
"When will it be done?"
Due to Statz operating on a macro code-based interpreter system, there
is no actual END in what I can make it do. I rely on my own ideas as
well as feedback to build upon what Statz has at any given point in time.
Most doors do one or a few (very few) things and then end. Statz is
always growing, and I have several great things that will be added to it.
I personally consider STATZ the Swiss-Army knife of SLBBS doors,
incompassing powerful and flexible features in an easy to understand and
use environment. As long as I can add features to increase Statz power
and flexibility, I will. I have no specific plans on when it's going to
be 'done'.
"Why so many releases?"
As far as new version releases go, I generally release new versions
when I have enough NEW things to warrant shipping it out into the real
world... Sometimes there are so many new things I just HAVE to get the
changes out so I can ease back into the programming at a point where I know
I have a 'clean slate'. Besides, I WANT the registered people to have
all the new things at their disposal.
